How about a timeless classic. Not new but a goody. "The Cay" by Theodore Taylor. My kids in NZ loved it when I read it to them. Probably they would have been gulity of falling into the same trap as many people and judged this book by the cover (which is less than stimulating)

A book series I just finished reading is "Children of the Lamp". A book of magic takes you around the world with John and Phillip Grant two Djinn in many adventures. From saving their mom to hiding in a old deep well, this is a high flying adventure.

We just finished reading Friend or Foe. The book had many shocking moments and exciting scenes! The action kept us wanting to read more and more each day! It was hard to put the book down!

You could almost feel the hatred between main characters, David and the pilots. This book makes us wonder about what it would be like to live in war zone! Several students were able to connect with the desires of the characters to be popular in their new school and town. Most of the students connnected with David who thought helping the pilots was the wrong choice to make!

We would recommend this book to students that like history, action, and a surprising ending!
